Want Sailing Lessons?

All our lessons are designed to be entertaining and experiential. Our motto is, "You can't learn it 'til you try it!"

Our curriculum is based on favorites from several nationally-recognized sailing schools and is adaptable to whatever type of sailing you will be doing. Expect the classes to run about 4 hours each, with most, if not all that time spent on the water. We aim to sail most of the time, with lecture-style classes generally conducted on days with light to no air.

Basics

We offer two levels of "The Basics:" Beginner and Intermediate. If there is something you feel you need to work on, or you would rather have a private lesson with yourself or your family, let us know and we will gladly accommodate.

Bareboat Chartering Class

In addition to our Basic Sailing Classes, Unbridled Sailing offers a bareboat class that, together with The Basics, will give you the tools you need to get on a big boat and sail in the big blue. This class includes educating you about Navigation, Shipboard Systems, and Provisioning. We also go over certain differences between large catamaran and monohull sailing, and the mechanical differences between the respective boats.

Unbridled Sailing also offers trip planning assistance to those who wish to charter in waters more tropical than those of the Ohio River. We can help with some of the challenges associated with a first-time (or second-time, or third-time) bareboat charter. Our staff is experienced in the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, and the French, British, and Dutch West Indies. And our logistics expertise extends to provisioning boats for a few or many.

Prerequisites: Must be over 21 to Charter and to take this class. Must be currently enrolled or graduated from The Basics (or have past experience).

Clinics

Throughout the year, we offer clinics focused on specific areas of sailing, such as: Navigation, Docking, Shipboard Systems, Trip planning, and Provisioning.
